QuickBooks is brilliant for a range of industries.  JJ Admin has been closely involved in setting up and supporting QuickBooks over many years for rest homes, building contractors, rental property investors, and has developed a particular method of using this accounting programme for Apartment Managers.

Brilliant for rental properties allowing you to classify your expenses and income for each property which gives you access to a profit and loss report on each property for any period of time, and still giving you reports for the entire investment as well.

What we like about QuickBooks in everyday use

  • Drill down capacity.  How is that number made up? QuickBooks allows you to double click on a report and take you to the source document.  Any updating or corrections done will immediately update the report you started from.
  • Customised reporting - the ability to select only the columns you require.  Specific date ranges can be used, across the end of your financial years.  Reports can be run on either Cash or Accrual basis and either GST inclusive or exclusive.
  •  Multiple on screen reports.  It is very useful to be able to refer to information on two or more reports, at the same time. QuickBooks allows these to be on screen at the same time.
  • Multiple companies can be accomodated by creating as many data files as you wish - in QuickBooks Small Business, Professional and Premier .. see more product detail.
  • User-definable fields.  For more effective contact management, QuickBooks allows you to define fields in your Customer, Supplier and Item records.
  • GST inclusive or net option on data entry.  A real benefit, whereby GST inclusive amounts can be entered on a Cash Sale Docket or invoice. The GST is split out automatically. Great for entering Cash Sales, Taxi companies.
  • Customise icon bar so that screens and reports you use on a regular basis are one click away.
  • Memorised transactions.  Any invoice, direct debit, automatic payment that happens on a regular basis can be memorised and entered automatically according to date and frequency settings you setup.  Brilliant for rental properties especially who have tenants paying by AP on a regular basis.  Cut out all that data entry.
  • Find any information from within any transaction, even in the memo field.
  • Create jobsheets which turn into invoices.  Use a variety of invoice templates with different information (that you customise yourself) for different types of customers.
  • Bank reconciliating which allows you to sort the information by the different variables (date, or reference number, or amount, or name) and the ability to change a transaction from within a reconciliation.  Credit card statements also.
