JJ Admin was started by Jocelyn James in 1993 in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand in direct response to small and medium sized businesses, and especially start ups, requiring professional on-site support for computerised accounting and payroll systems.

Jocelyn is passionate about improving efficiency in business by focusing on improving office administrative procedures and improved handling of accounts.  Many people are grateful to be able to tap into Jocelyn's ever-expanding knowledge base.

As a Quicken Professional Partner since 1999 and supporting the Quicken range of products as early as 1995, Jocelyn has installed, setup, customised, trained, supported and completed many hours of day to day data entry for home office small businesses to large wholesalers.

Prior to becoming a software consultant Jocelyn held positions in local government in Amberley, Rangiora and Tauranga as Rates Clerk and Administration Officer spanning 13 years.

You often see it advertised as part of the sales package for any number of goods full post sales support but what this means varies from place to place. With Jocelyn of J J Admin, full post sales support means she will install the new accounting computer programme you have just purchased from her, test it to ensure it is working, show you how it works, and be available by telephone for any additional questions you may have. If your questions are coming thick and fast, she will suggest an additional training session be scheduled.

Jocelyn's business is a varied one. She originally called it Administrative Support and this is exactly right. If it's to do with computers and office situations, Jocelyn is most likely to cover it. If it's outside her area of expertise, she has a network of other professionals she can refer a client to.

With clients ranging from the home-based small business through to the multi-million dollar import//export business, Jocelyn's workdays are varied. Some clients are buying programmes from her. Others are hiring her to teach them how to get the best from a programme they might have bought from another source, yet other clients call on her to carry out specific office administrative functions it might be to prepare the weekly wage calculations, or GST returns, or even to help with the end of financial year preparations.

It was while working as a member of the support team at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic that Jocelyn realised she had an affinity for computers. When it came time for a change of career direction, it was this personal strength Jocelyn chose to build on and JJ Administrative Support was born seven years ago. But her love of learning soon had Jocelyn enrolled as an extra-mural student at Massey University and earlier this year received her Bachelor of Business Studies degree.

``Because I also use many of the computer programmes I sell, I know the strengths and weaknesses of each programme and from among the several different products I am able to recommend the best one to a client to meet their particular needs,'' Jocelyn says. Jocelyn's knowledge of her products is such that she has even had other dealers calling her for help.

But her one-on-one teaching is where Jocelyn gets greatest job satisfaction. Because of her teaching methods, any problems a client may have in the period following are likely to be minor. In any case, Jocelyn will be in touch herself to ensure the client fully understands what they are doing. Now that's post sales support.
